Description of the Project: Installation of playground equipment and ground cover, removal of asphalt, excavation, trash removal. Asphalt is to be removed 18" further in all directions than required for all play equipment fall zones. 2. Excavate areas shown on site layout drawing to a 12" depth to allow for receipt of CPSC, ASTM and ADA compliant Engineered Wood Fiber. Sub base to be left in place for 6" to the interior of the asphalt. Bevel down to the 12" depth from the existing finished grade at a 45 degree angle. Legally dispose of all spoils off site. 3. Supply and install (1) new #200142354 Tikes of Steel Climber by Little Tikes Commercial. Colors to be determined at time of order. Locate per site layout drawing. 5. Supply and install (2) new #200096623 Two bay Single Post Swings with Slash Proof Belt Seats and Anti-wrap Swing Hangers by Little Tikes Commercial. Colors to be determined at time of order. Locate per site layout drawing. 6. Supply and install (1) layer of 4.0 oz. non-woven geotextile felt separator /weed barrier by Amoco Products (or equal) within the play equipment area for items 9 and 10. Install felt with a minimum 6" overlap at seams. Fabric to start at the top of the bevel and cover all areas inside of that while leaving the outside 6" next to the asphalt with no felt. 7. Supply and install (70) cubic yards of CPSC, ASTM and ADA compliant Engineered Wood Fiber by Superior Groundcover (or equal). Provide testing information supporting compliance with ASTM Standard 1292. Engineered Wood Fiber to be free of extraneous materials. 8. Contractor to provide their own dumpsters for all trash disposal. 9. Contractor to be responsible for unloading all materials and any necessary storage containers. PROJECT SCHEDULE It is anticipated that the play equipment will be installed while school is in session. The work shall be done with the least amount of disruption possible. Contractor shall work around drop off All work to be performed in accordance with Technical Specifications provided in Attachment A-1. The Contractor shall schedule work to cause the least amount of conflict with normal activities in the area. Contractor to be responsible for all disposal costs. Contractor must provide all necessary means of safety precautions, including barriers, signage, etc., and must communicate with the school principal at a minimum of 48 hours prior to any closures and/or work beginning pertaining to construction. All schedules must be approved by the superintendent. Any deviation from these specifications must be approved in writing by Choice Schools and Benton Harbor Charter School Academy. Any product submitted as equal must be able to provide technical support. The contractor must be fully licensed to perform the work Contractor is responsible for securing all necessary permits.
