The Ketchikan Gateway Borough (Borough) is seeking a qualified provider of Architectural and Engineering Services to design an expansion to the Gateway Recreation Center (GRC). The GRC is an assembly building containing gymnasiums, two gymnasiums, three small multi-use courts, one cardio room, one weightroom, four mixuse rooms, and a swimming pool of sprinkled, Type II-B construction, containing 75,477 s.f. in a 53,017 s.f. footprint. The Borough wishes to construct an addition of the maximum size based on the available land area. The two-story addition will relocate the existing cardio, weight, and receiving room to the first floor; and create two multi-service rooms on the second floor, containing a commercial kitchen with operable wall capable of expanding the room to the full size. design an expansion to the Gateway Recreation Center, a two-story gymnasium with multi-service rooms and classrooms. The proposed addition is approximately 6,500 -s.f. on each level housing new cardio and weights rooms and providing means of egress.
