Construction of an earth embankment/toe berm is required along Highway No. 363 from 0.77 km north of the junction of 9th Avenue SW to 0.22 km north, for a total distance of about 0.22 km. The purpose of this berm would be to stabilize the highway embankment at this location, as per the engineering Consultants recommendations. The berm will slightly extend into the nearby oxbow lake. The Contractors tasks during the construction phase will include, but are not limited to, clearing and grubbing, removal and salvage of topsoil, waste excavation and hauling, subgrade preparation and compaction testing, supply, hauling and placement of non-deleterious earth embankment materials and compaction testing, placing salvaged topsoil, and supply and installation of seed and erosion control blankets. The proposed work area must be restored following the construction of the berm. The Contractors tasks under the restoration phase will include, but are not limited to, topsoil placement, seeding, replanting any trees/shrubs removed from temporary access routes/workspaces and upgrading sections of Connor Park walking trails used for the site access with a graveled surface. The site is located within the Wakamow Valley which is an environmentally sensitive area. Therefore,the Contractor is expected to follow any environmental controls dictated by the Aquatic Habitat Protection Permit (AHPP). This is an advance notice of a potential procurement opportunity for interested Contractors. Please note that all quantities and project details are subject to change. This tender will have a shortened advertising period. The Ministry reserves the right to not proceed with advertising this work.
