The purpose for this functional planning study is to examine the current and future transportation and utility needs, defining both the long-term design and right-of-way requirements for the section of Range Road 11 from Township Road 262 (Highway 566) in Rocky View County to Yankee Valley Boulevard in Airdrie, where the road becomes 8th Street at the City limits (Township Road 264). The arterial corridor runs north south, 1.6km west and paralleling the QEII highway, providing an alternative regional transportation corridor and critical secondary connection between the County, the City of Airdrie, and City of Calgary. Rocky View County reserves the right to reject any or all proposals. Sections of Range Road 11 have been progressively annexed into and upgraded within the City of Airdrie over the past 20+ years, as development has progressed past the original City boundaries. Demand has grown significantly in recent years, and notably provides an important connector between Airdrie and the major commercial and employment centers in the East Balzac area. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
