The proposed contract is for snow removal and application of sand and salt from 0.0 km to 1.3 km on the Sumallo Forest Service Road. The Sumallo Forest Service Road (FSR) is located approximately 20 km south east of Hope on Hwy 3 and provides access to the recreational community of Sunshine Valley. Repaving operations in September 2014 over the first 1.3 km of the FSR resulted in a slightly wider road than previous and elimination of much of the unevenness of the previous asphalt. The contractor shall carry out snow removal/snow plowing any time snowfall accumulations reach a maximum depth of 5" (12.5cm), or within 8 hours of receiving a request for snowplowing from the Contract Officer, whichever comes first. The Contractor, on his own accord shall monitor snowfall depths and when or before snowfall reaches a depth of 5" on the road, shall carry out snow removal/plowing of the road. The Contractor shall also apply sand and salt (3 m3 per application) to maintain the road surface safe and open to residential and recreational traffic, as directed by the Contract officer. Sand and salt mixture shall be applied to the full width of the plowed road. Up to 10 applications of sand and salt mixture may be applied during the life of this contract.
