The work to be performed will include the removal and replacement of existing concrete and asphalt sidewalks and granite curbing; construction of new asphalt sidewalks; construction of accessible curb ramps; construction of retaining wall and appurtenant work. All questions shall be submitted in writing to the Engineer at least seven (7) days before the established date for bid opening. The work to be done under this Contract consists of construction along various roads and parks in the Town of Wakefield as follows: Road Approx. length Elm Street 1,000 ft Parker Street 750 ft Nahant Street 500 ft Myrtle Avenue 300 ft Water Street 450 ft Montrose Avenue 1,245 ft JJ Rounds Park 75 ft Maple Way Park 280 ft________ 4,600 ft The work to be performed will include the removal and replacement of existing concrete and asphalt sidewalks and granite curbing; construction of new asphalt sidewalks; construction of ADA compliant wheelchair ramps; construction of retaining walls; drainage infrastructure and appurtenant work and any other incidental work as required and shown on the plans. Work under this Contract shall be paid for at the contract unit bid prices, which shall constitute full compensation for all material, labor, equipment, etc., required to satisfactorily complete the work. All work under this contract shall be done in conformance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridges, 2022 Edition; the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Construction Standard Details, Highway Division, October 2017; the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Massachusetts Amendments and the Standard Municipal Traffic Code; the 1968 Standard Drawings for Traffic Signals and Highway Lighting; the latest edition of American Standard for Nursery Stock; the Plans and these Special Provisions.
