Renovation of a water / sewer project in Independence, Kansas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.

The Purpose of This Request for Proposal (Rfp) is to Solicit Proposals From Qualified Firms to Furnish and Install a 14" Insertion Water Valve (Avt Ez Valve, or Equivalent) on a Pressurized Water Line Located at the Independence Water Treatment Plant. The Awardee Should Offer a Valve System Able to Be Installed Without the Need for a Shutdown to the Water Line in Question (Known as Live Tapping, Wet Tapping. Or Hot Tapping). The Commercial Name of the Product Used Should Be Included in the Proposal Response. Insertion Valve: Provide Insertion Valve Assembly Exceeding the Performance Requirements of Awwa C509 and C515; 304 Ss Valve Body and Hardware With Resilient Rubber Sealing Gate, Creating Pressure Tight Seal to Pipe and Gate. Installable Without Shutting Down Waterline. 250 Psi Minimum Pressure Rating; 2" Square Operating Nut; Counterclockwise (Left) Opening Direction. Contractor Shall Verify "true" Pipe Outer Diameter. Cutting Millings and Other Contaminants Shall Be Evacuated Outside the Pipeline. Valve Assembly Shall Be Nsf 61 Product Certified and Conform to Nsf 372, Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act (2014), as Applicable. The Awardee Will Be Responsible for Providing All Labor, Materials, Parts, and Equipment Necessary to Properly Insert the Valve Into an Existing Water Line, Without the Need for Any Additional Shutdown or Valve Work. Services Shall Be Performed at the Water Treatment Plant Located at 520 E Oak St, Independence, Ks 67301. The Valve Location and Line Are Available for Viewing Which Can Be Arranged by Contacting Ed Sykes, Plant Manager at (Waterplant@independenceks.gov). The Awardee Shall Be Responsible for, and Provide Proof of, the Following Upon Request After Contract Execution.: a. Current Occupational License Issued by the City, if Required. B. a Minimum of $500,000.00 General Liability Insurance. C. All Statutorily Required Workers Compensation Coverage. D. a Minimum of $500,000.00 in Automobile Liability Insurance. Proposals Shall Address the Following Items: o Proposed Cost. Costs and Any Required Elements to Be Provided by the City for a Successful Implementation. o Qualifications and Experience. Detailed Information on the History, Qualifications, and Experience of the Firm and Key Personnel Participating on the Project, Including Identifying the Project Manager. o References. A Minimum of Three Project References With Contact Information for Similar Projects Completed or Substantially Completed Within the Last Five Years. Project References Shall Be Applicable to the Specific Project Manager and Key Team Members Proposed for This Project. Project References Shall Include the Size of the Contract, Community Size, and Project Outcome. o Review of Preliminary Scope of Work and Schedule. Review the Scope of Work and Provide Comments Concerning the Firm's Understanding and Role in Meeting the Scope of Work and Recommendations for Additional Services Beneficial to the Development of the Plan. Provide a Schedule Aligned With Key Tasks as Described in the Rfp, With Any Additions or Modifications Recommended in the Proposal. The Engineering Firms Will Be Evaluated Based on Their Cost, Qualifications, Experience, , and Schedule.
