Planting consists of conventional harvested areas to be planted as primary planting in freshly harvested sites at a density of 1,200 sph, and helicopter harvested areas to be planted as primary planting in freshly harvested sites at a density of 1,000 sph. There is one conventional harvested block that is a fill plant at a density of 800 sph. Most blocks will have deactivated and potentially barricaded roads that may limit vehicle access. Bidders should view the worksites and incorporate these access considerations into their safety procedures when developing their emergency response plans and bids. Some areas may require the inclusion of walk-in times for their workers. All seedlings are located FOB at Arbutus Grove Nursery in Saanich. The majority of stock will be 412A plugs. Most planting units will require a mixture of multiple species. The total number of seedlings available to plant may vary from the total number of seedlings (93,960) assigned to the identified planting units in the Schedule B Addendum due to anticipated variabilities in stock availability and area available for planting. The total area available for planting (86.9 ha) may vary or be reduced due to the un-precedented impact the current weather patterns are having on the progress of harvest operations in several of the blocks listed in the Schedule B Addendum. Successful bidders will have to arrange planting schedules to align with harvesting activities in active TSLs, and will need to ensure that Prime Contractor roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, and that protocols for Multi-Employer workplaces are in place.
