Saving Project...

Renovation of a detention facility in Farmville, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.

1. There is a total of sixteen (16) exit doors in the facility. Two (2) doors have locking systems that are currently obsolete; making it difficult to find vendors that can provide preventive maintenance and parts for service in a timely manner. The remaining doors and locking systems consist of a combination of commercial and detention grade metal doors with either dead bolts and/or magnetic shear locks or a combination of both. These doors and possibly the frames will need to be upgraded to a detention type door, frame and locking system unit. All doors shall have an audible and visual alarm installed at the door location, with capability to notify staff throughout the facility and in central control rooms that an exit door has been opened. 2. Install a separate monitor to display exit door alarms only in three (3) control rooms and on the main hall of the jail for viewing by staff. 3. The intent of this project is to upgrade the existing locking system for the above-mentioned doors with a state-of-the-art tamper proof locking system manufactured by a company that has a reputation for quality and a proven history of dependability in other correctional facilities. 4. Install a 2-inch steel frame with a 2-inch x 2-inch mesh grading door with a dead bolt lock in three (3) central control rooms. Doors shall add an additional level of security prior to entering the control room. 5. Replace locking mechanisms with tamper resistant locks in five (5) housing units with a total of fifty-six (56) cell doors. Twelve (12) doors are sliding doors and shall be reconfigured to hinged doors. The intent and purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP), and the resulting contract, is to obtain services from a qualified firm to upgrade existing security doors and/or lock systems for the Piedmont Regional Jail Authority (PRJA) in accordance with the Scope of Work. All requests for additional information or clarification must be received by the close of business on September 25th, 2023 sent via email concerning this RFP to: Major Lanay Walker E-mail: lswalker@prjva.org
