Site work for a water / sewer project in Braintree, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Work includes installation of water mains and service connections on Arborway Drive, Autumn Street, Arthur Street, Vinedale Road and Wood Road as indicated on the Contract Drawings. The Town does not warrant, represent, or guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any bid documents and/or information retrieved from any third party source. The Town is not responsible for any loss or damage including, but not limited to, time, money, or goodwill arising from errors, inaccuracies or omissions in any third party bid documents and/or information. Be advised that the information contained on this website may change over time and without notice to prospective bidders. It is the responsibility of each prospective bidder to check this website regularly through the close of bids for any applicable addenda or updates. The estimated cost of this project is $2,690,000.00. The contract duration is 270 calendar days. Including the lump sum cash allowance of $85,000.00 for Police Detail/Roadway Flagger services and the lump sum cash allowance of $40,000.00 for rodent and pest control. The Work includes installation of water mains and service connections on Arborway Drive, Autumn Street, Arthur Street, Vinedale Road and Wood Road as indicated on the Contract Drawings. The work will include the installation of approximately 4,645 linear feet of 8" ductile iron water main, 1,766 linear feet of copper service connections, replacement of 9 fire hydrants on Arborway Drive, Autumn Street, Arthur Street and Vinedale Road connecting roadways. A Temporary Bypass System will be required during construction. The work will include the installation of approximately 2,420 linear feet of 12" ductile iron water main, 575 linear feet of 4", 6" and 8" ductile iron domestic service and fire suppression connections, replacement of 6 fire hydrants, and all other appurtenances on Wood Road. There are critical 115KV and communications duct banks within sections of Wood Road that cannot be interrupted. Due to the commercial and industrial activity on Wood Road, including manufacturing, office space, retail, and hospitality services, it is the intent of this project to keep the existing water main and service connections in service until the new main is ready to be put in service. The contractor is advised to plan long side and short side service connections accordingly, by extending laterals with a cap and blow-off close to the point of connection and folding in the connection after successful testing and disinfection of the new water main. If a short side connection point is within twenty feet from the new main, the contractor may choose to leave a tee & a gate and fold in the connection after successful testing and disinfection of the new water main. The intent of this project is to commence work on Wood Road for the remainder of the 2023 construction season, if possible, continuing for as long as weather permits. Since there will not be a bypass system prompting cold weather concerns. It is anticipated that water services crossing to adjacent buildings may have to be "pulled" or installed utilizing handwork excavation and compaction methods. Controlled density fill may be employed if allowed by the gas utility owner, but is generally not allowed by them. All Work of this Project shall be completed in compliance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts COVID-19 Guidelines and Procedures for All Construction Sites and Workers at All Public Works Sites. An enhanced site specific COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan will be required during the submittal process.
