Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Brooks, Alberta. Completed plans call for the construction of a 70,000-square-foot, two-story above grade, 720-seat educational facility.
The Brooks Junior High School project will be delivered by Alberta Infrastructure on behalf of the Grasslands School Division. The description of the project includes: .1 Replacing the existing Brooks Junior High School. .2 Replacement School shell have an opening capacity of 720 students with a total gross floor area of 6,477 square meter . Four future modulars should be incorporated in design and a final buildout capacity of 820 students. .3 The design shall confirm to The School Capital Manual - Alberta Education and Standard and Guidelines for the School Facilities - Alberta Infrastructure. .4 The school is designed and must be built to achieve LEED v4.1 Silver Certification by the US Green Building Council. The mandatory LEED v4.1 credits identified in the TDR must be achieved for the project regardless of the certification path. .5 The existing school will be demolished upon the completion of the construction of replacement school. .6 The existing school building was originally constructed in 1953 with additions in 1959,1972, and 1985. The project delivery method will be Design-Bid-Build (DBB).
