Bedford County Public Schools (BCPS) has received and accepted an unsolicited proposal under the Public-Private Educational Facilities and Infrastructure Act (PPEA) for additions, renovations and improvements to Liberty High School, Staunton River High School and Bedford Primary. It is expected any interested vendor that proposes on this project will use their knowledge and experience to develop a plan to generally incorporate the outlined needs. BCPS is interested in innovative ways to accomplish these plans that are practical and cost effective. Vendors proposing on this project would also need to provide a plan to accommodate and manage student learning and the activities while this work is underway including logistics, costs, and schedules. Construction of this project is anticipated to begin in the Summer of 2024 and achieve substantial completion based on a reasonable construction timeline. It will require close coordination with School officials to accommodate normal school year operational schedules. Time must be included in the schedule to allow school staff to complete preparations for the start of school at the end of each summer. Plans must include consideration of students occupying the current site as construction progresses. The school staff will also require some time to relocate all material and equipment between areas of the building, including technology equipment.
