The City of Baldwin City, Kansas, is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced waste management companies to provide comprehensive solid waste services, including recycling, to meet the needs of our vibrant community. We invite your esteemed organization to participate in this Request for Proposal (RFP) to support our commitment to environmental sustainability and efficient waste management practices. Background: Baldwin City is a thriving community located in Douglas County, Kansas, with a population of approximately 4,800. As the city continues to grow, we recognize the importance of responsible and sustainable solid waste management to preserve our natural resources, protect the environment, and enhance the overall quality of life for our residents. Introduction: 1 The contractor shall provide, in a good workmanlike manner, the services called for and described herein which shall consist of all supervision, equipment, labor, and all other items necessary to provide the City with complete refuse collection, removal and disposal and to complete said work in accordance with the provision. The city currently has approximately 1500 residential customers billed and collected by the city, and 500 residential recycling accounts billed by the city. The residential waste is currently collected once a week in bags and cans provided by residents, there is currently no limit on the amount of waste collected from each home, with once-a-week recycling in 18-gallon bin collection.
