Notice is hereby given that Barton County, Kansas is soliciting bids for the NE 130 Avenue RCB Extensions project. The project consists of widening a Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) on NE 130 Avenue north of Claflin, KS. Note: The County Engineer's office and the County Clerk's office are temporarily located in the former JC Penney's building at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Kansas Avenue in Great Bend. All bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond or a Certified or Cashier's Check in the amount of 5% of the total bid. Checks or bonds are to be made payable to Barton County and serve as a guarantee of the sincerity and integrity of the bidder and shall be forfeited to the County if said proposal or bid is accepted and the bidder fails to execute the contract and file the required statutory and performance bonds as required in the contract documents. This project will be exempt from Kansas Sales Tax. All work to comply with the Kansas Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for State Road and Bridge Construction, (2007 Edition), all Special Provisions included herein, and with the plans and specifications prepared by Barton County. All Bidders are to be prequalified in work classification D, All Structures, or F, Reinforced Concrete Box Structures, with the Kansas Department of Transportation, as outlined in Section 102 of KDOT Standard Specifications. Barton County reserves the right to waive the requirement for prequalification based on the bidder's work history and qualifications. See the General Notes for work schedule requirements. If the Contractor fails to complete the work within 30 working days liquidated damages will be assessed as per Section 108 of the 2015 KDOT Standard Specifications. Barton County reserves the right to waive any and all technicalities and to reject any and all bids.
