As of April 9, 2025, per owner, an engineer has been identified. Project is at 30% design. Project expected to bid for construction Spring/Summer 2026. The City of Galax is seeking expressions of interest from consulting engineering firms who wish to be considered to provide professional engineering services for: The City of Galax Main and Calhoun Streets Storm Water Project. The project is funded through a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) grant. This project shall be developed utilizing VDOT Locally Administered Project policies. The estimated cost of the proposed project is approximately $1,839,000. Design and construction of the project is anticipated to take approximately 3 years. The objective of this project is to improve the City of Galaxs stormwater system to protect citizens, property and the environment. This project will construct approximately 1,150 linear feet of 18-inch to 60-inch storm sewer and structures, and replacement of existing disturbed utilities and related work. The City of Galax reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals received as a result of this request, to negotiate with any qualified firm or to modify or cancel in part or in its entirety the Request for Proposal if it is in the best interest of the City of Galax to do so. This Request does not commit the City of Galax to provide any payment for costs associated with the preparation of proposals submitted in response to this Request for Proposal. The City of Galax reserves the right to alter the project delivery method at any time during the contract period. The City of Galax will notify the consultant of such decision, revise the scope of services and respective man-hours. The change will be implemented utilizing an additional task order or supplemental agreement based on the contract type.
