The Project consists of constructing pedestrian improvements at the intersection of N. Main Street and Center Street, including minor demolition, utility adjustments, new sidewalks, curb ramps, curb and gutter, curb, driveway aprons, asphalt mill and overlay, fine grading, traffic control, maintenance of traffic, traffic signage, pavement markings, and project supervision. Beginning on October 25, 2023, digital files of the Bidding Documents may be downloaded from OneDrive upon registering with the Engineer via email at drissmeyer@amtengineering.com and by providing your contact information at least 48 hours before the scheduled Bid Opening. Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. It is the policy of the Virginia Department of Transportation that Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) as defined in 49 CFR Part 26 must have the maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of federally funded contracts. An online directory of DBE firms certified by the SBSD is maintained on the SBSD's website under the Certification Division's small business and supplier diversity tab. Contractors/consultants are encouraged to take all necessary and reasonable steps to ensure that DBE firms have the maximum opportunity to compete for and perform services on this contract, including participation in any subsequent supplemental contracts. If the contractor/consultant intends to subcontract a portion of the services on the project, the contractor/consultant is encouraged to seek out and consider DBEs as potential Sub-contractors/subconsultants. The contractor/Sub- contractor is encouraged to contact DBEs to solicit their interest, capability, and qualifications. Any agreement between a contractor/consultant and a DBE whereby the DBE promises not to provide services to other contractors/consultants is prohibited. o The DBE contract goal for this procurement is 2%.
