Demolition, site work, new construction, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Marion, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the addition of a 20,130-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
The Middle School Addition includes construction of a new two-story addition, and site modifications. The Work includes, but is not limited to, selective demolition, building demolition, site clearing, dewatering, earthwork, termite control, subdrainage, asphalt paving, chain-link fences and gates, lawns & grasses, cast-in-place concrete, unit masonry assemblies, structural steel, steel joists, steel deck, metal fabrications, metal stairs, miscellaneous carpentry, interior architectural woodwork, spray polyurethan foam insulation and air barrier system, open cell spray foam insulation, soffits, thermoplastic membrane roofing, sheet metal flashing and trim, manufactured roof specialties, firestopping, joint sealants, standard steel doors and frames, flush wood doors, aluminum-framed entrances & storefronts, finish hardware, glazing, gypsum board assemblies, acoustical panel ceilings, resilient floor tile, resilient wall base and accessories, painting, high-performance coatings, visual display boards, signs, metal lockers, fire protection specialties, protective covers, operable panel partitions, toilet and bath accessories, laboratory fume hoods, wood laboratory casework, hydraulic elevators, fire suppression, plumbing, HVAC, electrical (power, communication, and lighting) systems, electronic safety and security, and complete clean-up and removal of construction debris. The Owner intends to purchase significant quantities of material items over the amount of $5,000.00 through direct purchase orders for this project in order to save sales tax. These items within the project will bid through the prime contractors, but be purchased directly by the Crittenden County Board of Education. Interested material suppliers may contact the Architect, RBS Design Group, PSC, for the names of prime contractors who have expressed interest in bidding the project. All mailing charges (non-refundable), if required, are to be arranged in advance with and paid directly to Maco-Evansville Blue with a separate check. Electronic copies of the documents are available from Maco/Evansville Blue, 600 Court Street, Evansville, IN. (812/464-8108). Charges to obtain electronic copies are non-refundable and are to be arranged with, and paid directly to, Maco/Evansville Blue. Deposits will be refunded to contractors who submit a bona fide proposal to the Owner (directly or through a general contractor) and return the documents, in an acceptable and reusable condition within ten days of the opening of the bids. Subcontractors not listed above and material suppliers may purchase complete sets of Bid Documents at a cost of Two Hundred Dollars per set, non-refundable. Check covering the cost of plans shall be made payable to Crittenden County Schools. Electronic copies are also available as detailed above. Partial sets of documents are not available from the office of the Architect. The Bid Documents may be examined at the office of the Architect. Bid Guaranty in the form of a Bid Bond (Proposal bonds with Contractor acting as surety are not acceptable), Certified Check, or cash shall accompany each bid. The amount of the bid Guaranty shall be not less than five percent (5%) of the Bid set forth in the Proposal Form. All bid Guaranties shall be made payable to the Crittenden County Schools. No bids may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days there from. The scoring of bids/proposals is subject to Reciprocal preference for Kentucky resident bidders and Preferences for a Qualified Bidder. Please refer to specification sections 00220 and 00450. The Owner reserves the right to determine the ability of any bidder to perform the work, and upon the request of the Owner, any bidder shall furnish such information as may be required to make this determination. The successful bidder shall be required to furnish a performance and payment bond and a material and payment bond. The bidder's required Performance and Payment Bonds shall be in the combined amount of the materials designated in their bid to be acquired by Purchase Order by the Owner and all remaining items of cost specified in the respective Bid Package. The premium for the bonds shall be included in the proposal amount(s). The Owner reserves the right to accept any bid, to reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities in bids received where such acceptance, rejection or waiver is considered to be in the best interest of the Owner and to reject any bid where evidence of information submitted by the bidder does not satisfy the Owner that the Bidder is qualified to carry out the details of the Contract Documents.
