This project is included in the City of Framingham 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of October 24, 2023, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. A firm timeline for construction has not been established; however, funding is being allotted to fiscal year 2024. A detailed scope has not yet been released. This request for capital budget funding is for the full replacement of the front entrance to King Elementary School. During the spring of 2022, the Department contracted Newport Construction to perform repairs to the top slab of the entranceway in an effort to maintain accessibility. During excavation, it was discovered that the structural support of the entranceway had deteriorated beyond what was expected and required further investigation. Newport made minor repairs and sealed up the slab, ensuring it was safe for usage. The Department is currently working with Beta Design on conceptual renderings for a remodeled front entrance that will eliminate any structural concerns while maintaining accessibility. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
