New Mexico State University received $50.5 million from Higher Education General Obligation Bond Question 3 in the Nov. 5 elections. The university will split the money into six different projects: $20 million to upgrade aging steam tunnel and electrical infrastructure at the main Las Cruces campus. $15 million to update research infrastructure at NMSU’s science and research centers across New Mexico. $10 million for construction on NMSU’s main campus for a new facility that will support an undisclosed specialized instructional need. $3 million for improvements on Martinez Hall at NMSU’s Grants campus. $1.5 million for the loop road and emergency evacuation routes at the Gadsden Center at Doña Ana Community College, a branch of NMSU. $1 million for renovations for facilities and infrastructure at NMSU’s Alamogordo campus. Construction and renovation of facilities and infrastructure at NMSU-Alamogordo in Otero County. As of November 18, 2024, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified.
