The proposed contract requires the planting of approximately 2,041,023 spring trees in various locations across the Mackenzie Natural Resource District. The area of the contract is approximately 1,130.4 ha and will consist of direct planting. All contract related questions must be submitted in writing ONLY to the following email address: Forests.PrinceGeorgeTimberSalesOffice@gov.bc.ca. Deadline for receiving questions is 4:30 pm on November 17, 2023. If questions are received, a Question & Answer document will be posted to BC Bid by November 21, 2023. The seedlings for this contract could be located at multiple locations throughout the province, along with a small possibility that some may also be in Alberta. It will be the contractor's responsibility to pick up these seedlings from the nursery of where they reside at the time of planting. If the storage location is a reefer unit, the planting contractor will be responsible for any reefer rental costs including any expenses associated with maintaining the reefer unit.
For any Planting Units that require helicopter access, the contractor will provide the helicopter and incur all helicopter and related costs. Substantial access changes will be considered and negotiated if the change occurred after the Tender Closing date and prior to the Planting start date. The successful bidder will be required to hire a member of the Association of BC Forest Professionals to oversee portions of the fieldwork and sign and seal certain deliverables of the contract. The successful bidder will be required to implement and conform to the Prince George Business Area Environmental Management System and be a Registered Safe Company. Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022.
