All pavements considered for repair shall in inspected with the owner's representative present during all phases of the inspection B. Crack density shall be measured by looking at a 10-foot-by-10-foot section of the road, driveway or parking lot that best represents the average condition of the entire pavement. The contractor shall measure the linear feet of cracks within the 100-square-foot area. The number of linear feet divided by 100 is the crack density. C. The contractor shall provide a written recommendation to the owner for the proposed process that shall be considered. 2. Routing: A. Cracks within an area totaling less than 20 percent crack density shall be routed, cleaned, and filled. When routing, a route shall be produced that is centered over the crack to provide a uniform bonding surface on both sides of the crack. Rout at least 1/8 of an inch from each side of the crack. The reservoir shall never be wider than 1.5 inches or less than 3/8 of an inch. B. All routed cracks and voids shall be cleaned thoroughly using no less than 90 psi compressed air. The compressor shall have sufficient pressure and velocity and is also equipped with a water trap to remove particles that could prevent material bonding in cracks.
