Site work for a mixed-use development in Lacombe, Alberta. Completed plans call for site work for a municipal facility.
The City of Lacombe Art Collection Committee is seeking a professional artist(s) or artist team(s) with established public art experience for the development and execution of two permanent public art projects at the City of Lacombe Public Works facility currently under construction. Project 1 – An artistic fence between the Public Works yard and the public parking lot. The fence will be constructed from durable metal such as corten steel or sheet metal for visibility and longevity. The design and installation must include adequately weighted, sized and secured metal fence posts, laser-cut artistic panels that showcase the departments in the building, and LED lighting to highlight the fence. This fence will complement the exterior of the Public Works Building. The Artist will need to work with the prime contractor to determine the best method of securing the fence posts in the parking lots. Project 2 – A large feature wall in the main foyer of the building and down one hallway. This Project should complement the interior of the building and showcase Public Works and or the City of Lacombe. It could be a mural, an extension of the exterior fence, a blend of a painted mural background and a laser-cut foreground etc. It must not contain sharp points or edges or have significant protrusions that could cause a safety hazard or hinder staff access to the space.
