The project is located along 18th Street and extends from House Avenue west to Snyder Avenue, or potentially Crow Creek, as vetted through the storm sewer design. The 18th Street Reconstruction project is comprised of roadway design, storm sewer design, sanitary sewer design, and water transmission system design. The project will include the design of a storm sewer interceptor mainline and inlets along 18th Street. The outfall may be done via a tie-in with the existing 19th Street 60" steel reinforced polyethylene (SRPE) interceptor pipe and/or extend to Crow Creek under 18th Street. This will require determining if the 19th storm main has sufficient capacity to take on storm water from the proposed 18th Street system. Included in the hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of this portion of the Capitol Basin will be the evaluation of additional storm infrastructure that has been constructed within the last decade. These systems include the 26th Street Interceptor, Civic Commons storm system and detention pond, and the 19th Street Interceptor. This project also includes the replacement of the existing water main from Snyder Ave to House Ave including a new casing under the ReedAve railroad tracks. The new water main will be relocated to the typical ROW alignment where possible and eliminate parallel mains. The replacement will include all branch water mains, fire hydrant leads, fire hydrants, and water service lines within the ROW.
