Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Herndon, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The proposed improvements will include the construction of continuous ADA-compliant 5' sidewalks and curb-and-gutter along both sides of Locust Street. The project will also include ADA curb-cuts and crosswalks. The project scope is to extend from old Spring Street to Elden Street and may need to be funded and constructed in phases. The construction of continuous ADA-compliant sidewalks throughout town aligns with the town's 2030 Comprehensive Plan's goals and objectives of integrating pedestrian and bike facilities with the street and transit network. This project will improve safe pedestrian access and connection to Herndon Middle School as well as enhance access to public transit. This project is included in the Town of Herndon Capital Improvement Plan for FY2025-2029. As of October 2, 2024, this project is funded for construction in FY2028-2029, with design in FY2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
