Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Norman, Oklahoma. Completed plans call for the construction of a 200,000-square-foot, 330-bed medical facility; educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
The $150 million project, by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (Oklahoma City), will replace the current aging Griffin Memorial Hospital mental health facility in Norman, Okla. The Donahue Behavioral Health Hospital will be a 200,000 SF facility that will serve 275 adults and 55 adolescents daily. The Donahue campus will be located on the OSU-OKC campus. The new facility will offer both adult and adolescent support wings, as well as continuous care and some outpatient services. As part of the plan, Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Okla., will close. The project is being funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, which was implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic. As of April 12, 2024, the project has broken ground and construction has begun. An architect and general contractor have been identified. Completion is expected in Fall 2026.
