Reference Number 0000260138 Pricing Lump sum In addition to the General Conditions for Construction, these Supplemental Conditions are applicable to the Work of the Contract. The Work to be done under the Contract shall consist of the supply and operation of horizontal directional drilling (pit launch) equipment to install copper water services 19mm-50mm in diameter for the period of February 1, 2024 until January 31, 2025, with the option of four (4) mutually agreed upon (1) year extensions. (a) The City may negotiate the extension option with the Contractor within ninety (90) Calendar Days prior to the expiry date of the Contract. The City shall incur no liability to the Contractor as a result of such negotiations. (b) Changes resulting from such negotiations shall become effective on the anniversary date of the contract award of the respective year. Changes to the Contract shall not be implemented by the Contractor without written approval by the Contract Administrator. (c) Bidders are advised that, in future, the City may be participating in collaborative procurement initiatives with other levels of government. Accordingly, extensions to this Contract may not be exercised. Horizontal directional drilling (pit launch) to install copper pipes in urban areas where a traditional surface horizontal directional drill rig may not be feasible. (a) Acceptable, but not limited to the following boring types: (i) Pneumatic piercing (ii) Steerable boring system D2.3 The major components of the Work are as follows: (a) Mobilize crew and equipment to the construction site upon request from the City representative as per D2.4.2. (b) Identify and participate in site discussions about potential hazards/difficulties such as, but not limited to, existing services that may interfere with the predetermined service path, clearance requirements, drilling/piercing length estimation, and approximate height difference. (c) Lower equipment into the excavated pit. (i) The pits will be prepared and maintained by the City of Winnipeg to required dimensions for the drilling equipment. (d) The Contractor is responsible for the horizontal and vertical alignment of the drilling equipment. (i) Alignment of equipment must be accurate to achieve desired connection location to existing water main. (e) Extend drill/pierce rods in desired direction without damaging existing underground infrastructure. (f) Pull back rods with copper pipe attached. (i) Ensure that underground obstacles do not damage the new copper pipe during installation.
