Renovation of an educational facility in Chesapeake, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Chesapeake Public Schools will receive sealed bids for the project for the Partial HVAC Replacement at Georgetown Primary School. Please note that your bid response must be submitted electronically. Bids submitted by any other method will not be accepted. Please disregard references to bid mailing instructions, submitting duplicate copies of bid, and envelope / envelope template requirements. The following equipment shall be replaced. Scope of Work shall include all Support work / trades required to facilitate the removal and replacement of the listed equipment. Work involved shall include all structural steel work, roof work, electrical work, fire alarm work, DDC control work, ductwork, and ceiling work required to support the removal and installation of new equipment. Remove main AHU and ductwork and chiller. Remove boilers and pumps and piping. Remove all classroom shutoff boxes and replace with fan powered VAV boxes with electric heat. Replace Cafeteria units, Kitchen units, and Office area units with single zone rooftop units with hot gas reheat. Remove and replace existing DDC controls in this part of the building with wireless controls. Tie into existing controls on what is called the new wing. Remove and replace exhaust fans. Remove kitchen exhaust and makeup air units. Remove all ceilings and light fixtures to perform all necessary work. Install new LED Lighting in all areas associated with this work. Work required for Division 23 Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning shall include labor, materials, equipment, appurtenances, and services to provide first class working systems, tested and ready for operation. Installation shall conform to the drawings and specifications, incorporating the best standards of workmanship. Materials shall be new and of good quality, and labor shall be performed by skilled mechanics under the direction of a competent superintendent. All bids must be in strict compliance with provisions of the Partial HVAC Replacement at Georgetown Primary School. Chesapeake Public Schools does not discriminate against faith-based organizations. Chesapeake Public Schools reserves the right to cancel the bid opening or to reject any or all bids in whole or part when it is in the best interest of Chesapeake Public Schools. The right to waive any and all informalities and to determine responsibility of all bidders is reserved to Chesapeake Public Schools. The Owner reserves the right to negotiate any aspect of this Bid with the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. No bid or any part thereof may be withdrawn or canceled or modified for 90 days after the Bid Opening with the exception that Bids may be withdrawn after opening in accordance with the procedures for Withdrawal of Bids in accordance with Section 2.2- 4330 of the Code of Virginia. Prior to the time and date designated for receipt of Bids, Bids submitted early may be modified or withdrawn. Bidders should contact electronically. A bidder's bond or certified check will be required in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the Base Bid. Bidders' attention is invited to the requirements of Chapter 11 of the Code of Virginia pertaining to registration. Any person / vendor visiting a Chesapeake Public Schools' facility during school hours must check in at the Main Office, follow all school procedures related to school safety, and not provide any disruption to instructional activities. It is strongly recommended that all bidders intending to submit bids for this project attend the pre-bid meeting. If at any time the guidelines for public gatherings are changed, the District will make the necessary adjustments to remain in compliance with Coronavirus safety guidelines. Questions: Bidders shall promptly notify the Architect/Engineer, in writing, of any ambiguity, inconsistency or error, which they may discover upon examination of the Bidding Documents or of the site and local conditions. Bidders requiring clarification or interpretation of the Bidding Documents shall make a written request, using the required form indicated in Section 008600 "Request for Clarification", to the Architect/Engineer, with copies provided to the Owner as indicated on the form, to reach him at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the date for receipt of bids. Any clarification, interpretation, correction or change of the Bidding Documents will be made by Addendum. Clarification, interpretations, corrections or changes of the Bidding Documents made in any other manner will not be binding, and bidders shall not rely upon such clarification, interpretations, corrections and changes. REJECTION OF BIDS: Chesapeake Public Schools reserves the sole right to cancel the bid opening or to reject any or all bids in whole or in part when it is the best interest of Chesapeake Public Schools. Chesapeake Public Schools reserves the right to reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, to waive informalities and to delete items prior to making the award, whenever it is deemed in the sole opinion of the Chesapeake Public Schools to be in its best interest. Substantial Completion: August 29, 2024 Final Completion: September 28, 2024 The work shall begin upon receipt of Notice to Proceed and / or Agreement Between Owner and Contractor and shall be completed by no later than the date of Substantial Completion. The Undersigned further agrees, if awarded the contract, to execute and deliver Performance and Labor and Materials Payment bonds on AIA Document A312 for 100% of Contract amount. Liquidated damages for delay shall be assessed against the Contractor in accordance with the General Conditions at the rate of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per day, until Substantial Completion is achieved and Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) per day, until Final Completion is achieved. TOTAL BASE BID AMOUNT (Sum of PARTS A & B) IS: Three hundred forty-three thousand one hundred five dollars ($343,105.00).
