Demolition, site work and addition to a museum in Boise, Idaho. Completed plans call for the addition of a museum; for the demolition of a museum; and for site work for a museum.

All questions must be sent to the DPW Project Manager: Brian Boyd, Project Manager Division of Public Works 502 N. 4th St. PO Box 83720 Boise ID 83720-0072 (208) 332-1914 Brian.boyd@adm.idaho.gov This project is to build an approximately 40,000 square foot Collections and Archives Preservation Facility Storage Building on land owned by Idaho State Historical Society (ISHS) located at 2205 E. Old Penitentiary Road, Boise ID. The anticipated building is being envisioned as a three stoiy addition to south of the existing Archives building. The new addition, along with the existing archive facility will serve as the main repository for State historical artifact collections, records, and related materials. It is preferable that each floor of the addition have doorway access to the adjacent floors of the existing archives building. The scope of work would include the design of an approximately 40,000 square foot multistory storage building consisting of spaces for 1) Artifact and archive storage utilizing compact mobile shelving systems for the majority of the storage floor spaces, 2) A loading area/dock on the ground floor for moving truck loading/unloading (preferably within the building), 3) A freight elevator servicing each floor, 4) Code required restroom facilities, 5) Utility support spaces (mechanical, electrical, fire suppression system, etc.). The entire building addition will need to have a mechanical system capable of maintaining 68 degrees Fahrenheit with a consistent relative humidity level of 40%, zoned appropriately, and a HEPA or equivalent museum quality air filtration system to remove particulates and pollution. The fire suppression system for the addition should be a pre-action chemical-based system designed specifically to protect archive level material. The scope of work will also include full civil and landscaping design for the site. The design of all associated utilities serving the new facility will also be part of the project scope. It is important for the design-build responders to understand that the proposed facility described in the RFQ will house critical historical artifacts, records, documents and material. This facility is to be designed and built to support these efforts. The qualifications responses to this RFQ should reflect experience in the design and construction of these types of facilities for both the individual team members and the teams as a whole. Scope will include programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, AHJ review and approval, PBFAC review and approval, and construction administration for the facility. The current funding is allotted for the construction of the new building. Additional funding specific to the compact mobile shelving systems is being pursued and is anticipated to be in place in July 2024.
