The Valley Park Fire Protection District (the "District") is requesting proposals from qualified independent contractors for snow and ice removal. Proposals must be delivered sealed and marked, "Snow and Ice Removal" on the outside of the envelope. The District reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, and to waive any irregularities. General Requirements: 1.1.1 The contractor shall provide snow removal services at each of the facilities listed below on an as needed, if needed basis for the Valley Park Fire Protection District (District), in accordance with the provisions and requirements stated herein and to the sole satisfaction of the District. *Fire Station 1: 840 St. Louis Avenue, Valley Park Missouri 63088 *Fire Station 2: 47 Crescent Avenue, Valley Park Missouri 63088 1.1.2 Unless otherwise specified herein, the contractor shall furnish all material, labor, facilities, equipment, and supplies necessary to perform the services required herein. Performance Requirements for Snow Removal Services 1.1.3 The contractor shall remove snow, sleet, and ice (referred to hereinafter as "snow") from the parking lots, driveways, and apparatus parking areas. a. Upon award of the contract, the contractor shall visit the agency facilities to become familiar with the layout of the parking lots, driveways, and approaches and the designated locations to pile snow. 1.1.4 The contractor must coordinate snow removal services with the designated agency representative prior to any snow removal service being provided by the contractor. 1.1.5 The contractor shall provide snow removal services at designated facilities in a priority sequence. 1.1.6 The contractor must be available to provide snow removal twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. 1.1.7 The contractor shall apply salt or ice melt compound as needed, giving special attention to hills, slopes, parking lot entrances, and driveway ramps by using extra applications of salt, ice melt compound as required to allow vehicle and pedestrian traffic to move freely without hazard. 1.1.8 The contractor shall be responsible for any damage to the parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and/or other property as a result of the contractor's negligence. a. The contractor must not use equipment with steel tracks or other equipment which may cause immediate or later damages to the parking lots, driveways, and/or sidewalks. b. The contractor shall repair any parking lot, driveway, or sidewalk damaged by negligent labor or equipment used by the contractor. c. Upon request by the state agency, the contractor shall reposition any parking blocks that have been displaced during the contractor's snow or ice removal process. The contractor and the agency shall mutually agree on the amount of accumulation of snow present in the parking lot(s)/driveway(s). 1.1.9 Termination - The District reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time. 1.1.10 Contractor Liability - The contractor shall be responsible for any and all personal injury (including death) or property damage as a result of the contractor's negligence involving any equipment or service provided under the terms and conditions, requirements and specifications of the contract. 1.1.11 Insurance - The contractor must acquire and maintain adequate liability insurance. a. In the event any insurance coverage is canceled, the state agency must be notified at least thirty (30) calendar days prior to such cancellation.
