The City of Asheville is requesting the submission of qualified contractors to provide replacement and rehabilitation construction services for a 722 sq/ft Leopold bottom dual media water filter at the North Fork water treatment facility. Work will involve the replacement of the filter underdrain system, filter media, coatings, pipe penetration seals, and start up upon completion. Contractor will be responsible for the disposal and hauling of the removed filter underdrain components, procuring new underdrains, and filter media (anthracite, sand and gravel). Contractor will work within the specifications outlined in the project manual provided by Black and Veatch Engineering to secure replacement filter drains, filter media, and all other components for this project. The North Fork (Burnett Reservoir) water treatment plant is a direct filtration plant. All bidders must have current North Carolina General Contractor licenses with a Public Utilities (PU) classification at the time of the bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond and a payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount. All bidders are required to submit cash, a cashier's check, or certified check in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid proposal. The City of Asheville reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
