Renovation of a water / sewer project in Carrboro, North Carolina. Design plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
As of November 24, 2025, the project is in design. The project will bid openly, but a firm bidding timeline has not been disclosed. Construction will not begin until at least 2029. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The primary objectives of the project are: o to design a new PFAS treatment process at the WTP capable of meeting the proposed regulatory compliance limits and OWASA treatment goals for PFAS, making best use of information and decisions contained in planning documents prepared or being finalized by the planning consultant (Brown and Caldwell); o to place the new treatment process into operation by January 2028, and sooner if possible; o to deliver the project using traditional design-bid-build delivery; and o to coordinate with other major capital projects expected to be concurrently in design and construction, namely the Clearwell and Electrical Distribution Improvements. Vishnu Gangadharan will be OWASA's primary point of contact for all consultant selection matters relating to this project.
