Sealed bids are requested by the Town Manager for Contract Cleaning at the Beal Elementary School, Calvin Coolidge School, Floral Street School and Sherwood Middle School. Each bidder must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience cleaning a single public school building consisting of at least 50,000 square feet of space or greater and must submit evidence of having done such work. Bidder must have their principal / main office within thirty five (35) miles of the Shrewsbury Municipal Office Building (100 Maple Ave., Shrewsbury MA). Measurement will be determined from the Municipal Office Building using straight line point to point by GPS. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of cash or certified check, Treasurer's or Cashier's check by a responsible bank or trust company, or bid bond, payable to The Town of Shrewsbury, in the amount of 5% of the total first year bid amount. 12. LENGTH OF CONTRACT: This specification shall commence March 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026. The Shrewsbury Town Manager shall have the right to terminate this agreement by giving notice to the Contractor of such termination and specifying the date thereof at least thirty calendar days before the effective date of such termination. Notification by the Town Manager shall be written and made by registered mail or hand delivery. Terms two and three of the contract are subject to Town appropriation. 13. TIME OF WORK PERFORMANCE: The work of this specification may not be started until after 5:00 p.m. daily and must be completed by the following day at 6:00 a.m. The contractor shall be responsible for nightly cleaning one day before the beginning of each school year. This contract consists of approximately 200 days including all three school vacations of cleaning responsibilities including the last day of each school year. The contractor shall also provide sufficient workers from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Beal Elementary School 214 Lake Street, Calvin Coolidge School 1 Florence Street, Floral Street School 57 Floral Street and Sherwood Middle School 28 Sherwood Avenue, Shrewsbury ,MA to properly clean and prepare areas to be used for parent night activities. These areas shall include, but not be limited to certain corridors, classrooms, toilet facilities. A listing of areas to be used will be supplied to the contractor one week in advance of the night of such usage. There will be at least three (3) parent nights each year that will require early cleaning of the building. Advance notice will be given to the contractor. 14. EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS: The Contractor shall furnish all equipment, appliances and cleaning materials, labor and supervision, unless otherwise specified for performing all operations within this specification. All hand towels, toilet tissue, hand soap, wastebasket liners and sanitary dispenser liners shall be supplied by the Town. 15. MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS: Contractor shall make available Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all products and materials used by their firm. Sheets shall be available at the time the product or equipment is used or stored in the building. 16. ACCIDENT, FIRE AND SAFETY PREVENTION: The Contractor shall be responsible for carrying out the fire, accident and safety prevention policies.
