This project consists of painting centerline stripes, stop bars, crosswalks, words and symbols on selected streets in the City of Platteville. This is a re-paint of existing lines. Sealed bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond payable to the City of Platteville, Wisconsin in the amount of not less than five (5) percent of the total amount of bid as a guarantee that if the bid is accepted, bidder will execute and file proper contract documents, performance bond and insurance within ten (10) days after award of the contract. When the intended awardee so executes the contract agreement and files bonds and insurance as required by the contract documents, the check or bid bond will be returned. In case the intended awardee fails to execute the contract agreement and file bonds and insurance as required by the contract documents, the amount of the check or bid bond submitted with the contractor's proposal shall be forfeited as liquidated damages. All bids shall be made out on the proposal forms furnished by the City of Platteville in the contract documents. Any alteration or extension of the form or the furnishing on it of unsolicited information may cause the bid to be declared informal and result in its being rejected. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after the scheduled time of opening bids. The City of Platteville reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities in bidding, or accept the bid deemed most advantageous to the City. Time of completion for this project is August 15, 2024. Completion means that all work, including clean up, has been accomplished. Base Bid and Alternate C are near the University of Wisconsin - Platteville. It is required to start after May 20, 2024 to avoid campus traffic. Alternate B is near Southwest Health Center. The contractor can expect emergency vehicles using the road and must be prepared to accommodate such traffic. All work must be completed within 5 working days of starting work, unless there are weather delays. This may be scheduled at the Contractor's Discretion beginning at the Notice to Proceed date. The Contractor is required to notify the City of Platteville Street Department (608) 348-8828 at least 2 business days prior to starting work.
