The extent of the Amos Street Reconstruction 2024 project consists of the three options listed below. The first option is the base project and will be the minimum the City will consider award on. The City may consider adding options 2 and/or 3 to option 1. The City reserves the right to choose the option combination that will be the basis of award for the project. Option 1 - Amos Street Reconstruction (School Street to Farley Street) consists of the reconstruction of Amos Street including the reconstruction of the intersection at Degroat Street. The street reconstruction includes the installation of storm sewer, roadway grade adjustments, subdrain, sidewalks, ADA ramps, PCC curb and gutter, HMA pavement, erosion control and seeding. Option 2 - Amos Street Resurfacing (Farley Street to Davis Street) consists of the removal of the existing seal coat surface and a portion of the existing base stone and replacement of the seal coat with HMA Pavement. More subbase may be replaced depending on the condition of the existing subbase. Option 3 - Farley Street Reconstruction (Amos Street to the east end) consists of the reconstruction of Farley Street which includes the installation of storm sewer, roadway grade adjustments, PCC curb and gutter, HMA pavement, erosion control and seeding. Work on the improvement shall commence on or before the date specified in the written "Notice to Proceed" and shall be fully completed and ready for acceptance by October 4, 2024 thereafter. Liquidated damages in the amount of $1,000.00 per calendar day will be assessed for each day that the work shall remain uncompleted after the end of the contract period, with due allowance for extension of contract period due to conditions beyond the control of the Contractor, as approved by the City Council. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8 and as specified by the City of Preston. The bid security shall be 10% of the total amount of the bid. The City of Preston hereby reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities and award a contract as deemed to be in the best interest of the city.
