Site work for a water / sewer project in Desoto, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Project site is located on both sides of a creek within a drainage easement located at the back of two adjacent rows of residential homes along Shoreline Drive and Honey Tree Lane, east of Beltwood Drive, in DeSoto, TX. Significant erosion has occurred along the north and south embankments of the creek, and two drop structures within the creek and at the outfall at the upstream slotted inlet box have been undermined. The existing structures/retaining walls originally intended to control erosion are currently in the process of failing, thus creating a need for more robust and permanent bank stabilization retaining walls and remediation of the undermined two drop structures and upstream inlet/outfall structure. The scope of work includes the following items: Design repairs to the existing sidewalk, concrete inlet box and outfall structure on the east side of Beltwood Drive at the eastern project limits of the creek. Design a permanent gabion bank stabilization structure/retaining wall along the north embankment of the creek behind lots 12, 13, and 14 to replace the failing existing railroad tie retaining wall. Design a permanent gabion erosion control and bank stabilization structure along the south embankment of the creek behind lot 15 to replace the failing existing railroad tie retaining wall. Design remediation measures for two undermined drop structures in the middle of the creek. Design repairs to stabilize the outfall pipe structure on the north embankment at the south side of lot 7. Gabion structures design may consist of high-strength steel tiebacks in reinforced concrete beams founded on a crushed stone or gravel base. All bids shall be accompanied by a bid bond from a reliable surety (with the appropriate "Power of Attorney") or by a cashier's or certified check upon a national or state bank in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total maximum bid, as a guarantee that bidder will enter into a contract and execute performance, payment and maintenance bonds within fifteen (15) days after notice of award of contract to him. All bidders will be required to comply with provision 5159a of "Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes" of the State of Texas with respect to the payment of prevailing wage rates. The City of DeSoto will accept questions regarding this Invitation For Bids until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. All questions must be submitted in writing to the City of DeSoto Development Services Department (see address below). Bidders are expected to inspect the site of the work and to inform themselves regarding all local conditions. All bidders are informed that a minimum of fifty-one (51%) of the construction work must be performed by the General Contractor of record for the project. The successful bidder must furnish a performance bond and a payment bond (with the appropriate "Power of Attorney") in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, and a 2 maintenance bond (with the appropriate "Power of Attorney") in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the contract price from an approved surety company holding a permit from the State of Texas to act as surety of other surety or sureties acceptable to the City of DeSoto. The maintenance bond shall be in effect for a period of two (2) years after final acceptance of the work. The right is reserved, as to the interest the City of DeSoto may require, to reject any and all bids, and to waive any informality in the bids received. **Bid Notes: Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes upon the blank form of proposal furnished, and envelopes shall be marked in the upper left-hand corner with project title and bid opening date and time.
