The Seton hydroelectric facility is located at the east end of Seton Lake near the community of Lillooet, BC, in St’át’imc Nation Territory, adjacent to the community of Sekw’el’was. The facility includes a concrete gravity diversion dam, a 3.7 km long power canal, a forebay, penstock and single unit 44 MW generating station. Seton is the most downstream facility in the Bridge River system, receiving discharge from the Bridge River generating stations, diversion flows from the Walden North Independent Power Project, and local Seton Lake inflows. Due to the age and condition of the generating equipment at Seton, BC Hydro is planning to construct a bypass to mitigate water conveyance risk due to equipment failure, and to provide water conveyance during the future replacement on the generating equipment. The bypass will reduce the risk of high flows and associated impacts to fish and fish habitat and improve the long-term reliability of water conveyance at the Seton Generating Station. The scope of work for the contract consists of construction of a concrete lined bypass tunnel, gate structure, and stilling basin. The bypass tunnel is proposed to be D-shaped with an excavated width ranging from 4.2 m to 5.4 m with a 0.6 m thick reinforced concrete lining. The gate structure includes construction of a 25-meter-deep concrete lined shaft, which will provide access to vertical lift operating and maintenance gates. The stilling basin is to be concrete lined, with a maximum excavation depth of about 20 m.
