Renovation of a museum in Greenwood, South Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 2,500-square-foot museum.
Architectural/Engineering Services for the Design of an Exhibition Hall for the Railroad Historical Center in Greenwood, SC. Greenwood County and the Railroad Historical Center ("Owner") are requesting professional services from qualified Architectural/Engineering firms for the design of a replica train passenger depot to be used as an exhibition hall and event space in Greenwood, SC. The replica depot will be located at the Railroad Historical Center Site, 906 Main Street South, Greenwood, SC, 29646 (Parcel ID# 6845-970-739). The proposed building will be approximately 2500 sq. ft. and should mimic the original appearance of the Southern Passenger Depot from the early 20th century. This request seeks to identify the qualifications submitted that are in the best interests of Greenwood County and the Railroad Historical Center. The submitted proposals will be evaluated utilizing the Selection Guidelines outlined in this Request for Qualifications. The owner is seeking a cost-effective and highly qualified partner. Greenwood County and the Railroad Historical Center reserve the right to reject any and all submittals. Questions concerning the RFQ must be submitted in writing and directed to Josh Skinner, Capitol Projects Coordinator, at jskinner@greenwoodsc.gov by February 23, 2024. Specific procurement questions may be made to Anita Baylor, Procurement Officer, at abaylor@greenwoodsc.gov. Responses will be made by email to all parties. PROJECT DESCRIPTION/SCOPE OF WORK The Railroad Historical Center is located on two parcels of property, approximately 1.7 acres, in the heart of Greenwood, SC. The main attraction of the site is a restored antique steam engine and 6 railway cars, all but one of which has its original fixtures and furnishings. Also on site is an approximately 2,000 sq. ft. bank building, built in 1959, which holds the museums exhibits for the Railroad Historical Center. The proposed new exhibition building will be approximately 2500 sq. ft. and should include a small kitchen, two (2) ADA-compliant restrooms, and a plenty of storage space. See concept sketch provided by the Railroad Historical Center. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
