Addition and major renovations to the Hospital. The scope of the project includes the construction of additional buildings that will allow to increase the number of beds from 544 to 720 and will require 1,500 additional nurses. The plan also includes eleven additional stretchers for day medicine, the addition of nine endoscopic examination rooms and ten medical imaging machines. The majority of the hospital buildings will undergo major upgrades and reconstruction and will be subdivided into two distinct clusters to ensure that the hospital complex meet current standards. The first cluster would concentrate health care services, while the second one would consolidate all research activities. The overall concept includes clinical facilities, an integrated cancer centre, a knowledge centre, an ophthalmology centre and a research centre. The new buildings may be erected on the current parking lots, but other sites are being studied to take into account public transit.
