The Prudence Island Water District (PIWD) is seeking sealed Bids for a distribution line replacement project. In general and without limitation, the work to be done under this contract includes the replacement of ductile iron and HDPE laterals with service connections and site restoration. The project is funded by the EPA using CDS funds and is subject to the associated crosscutters. All Bidders must comply with the State of Rhode Island requirements regarding the participation of minority/womens business enterprises (MBE/WBEs) or DBE in the performance of this contract. The successful bidder will be required to include in their bid documents for subcontractors and MBE/WBEs Fair Share percentage which totals at least 10 percent (10%) of the dollar value of the entire procurement or project. Bid Security in the form identified within the Instruction to Bidders, and in the amount of five (5) percent of the total Bid amount, The successful Bidder will be required to furnish the PIWD with a Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, each in the amount of 100% of the contract price, as security for faithful performance of the Contract and executed by a surety company licensed to do business in the State of Rhode Island and approved by the PIWD. Liquidated damages will be in the amount of $1,500.00 for each calendar day of delay from the date established for substantial completion. Time of completion is set at 45 days following the Notice to Proceed to complete all work. It is anticipated that work may begin on or about April 1, 2024 and be completed no later than Dec 31, 2024 (with preference for minimal service / road disruptions during the period from July 4 through Labor Day [September 2, 2024]). The Prudence Island Water District reserves the right to waive any informalities or irregularities in proposals received, or to reject any or all proposals without explanation.
