Scope- The Work of this Contract is generally described as a water main replacement project. The project consists of supplying the labor, equipment, and materials necessary to provide approx. 1,290 L.F. of new 16-inch diameter water main as specified herein. The City of Bloomington, incorporated in 1856, is a home rule unit of government under the 1970 Illinois Constitution. The City of Bloomington is located in the heart of Central Illinois, approximately 125 miles southwest of Chicago, 155 miles northeast of St. Louis and 64 miles northeast of Springfield, the State Capital. The City of Bloomington is the County Seat of McLean County, the largest county in Illinois (approximately 762,240 acres). The results of the 2010 Census shows the City now has a population of 76,610 citizens. The economic strength of the City of Bloomington metropolitan area is well diversified with no single dominating industry. The Work of this Contract is generally described as a water main replacement project. The project consists of supplying the labor, equipment, and materials necessary to provide approx. 1,290 L.F. of new 16-inch diameter water main as specified herein. Also included are related valves, pavement replacement, site work, seeding, and other services and items of construction Please carefully read through the specifications and drawings attached. All questions must go through OpenGov. Please also remember that a hard copy of your bid bond must be received before the bid opening. If you have any technical questions about OpenGov or other question that you are not sure need to be asked on OpenGov, please only contact Carla Murillo, Procurement Manager at cmurillo@cityblm.org or 309-434-2277. Bids will be valid for 90 days following the bid opening. A. If the bidder will utilize subcontractors, 8% of the total contract amount should be awarded to MBEs, DBEs, and/or WBEs. B. 10% of the total hours should be performed by minority workers and 2% by female workers (or a blend thereof).
