Site work and paving for a civil project in Rutland, Vermont. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

The City of Rutland is soliciting bids from experienced Contractors to modify and install segments of water main at four locations along Route 7. During the 2024 construction season, VTrans will be repaving the Class 1 Highways within Rutland City (Routes 4, Business 4, & 7). These four locations are within the paving limits. As a result, the water main work must take place in early spring in advance of the paving project. This work must be completed by no later than April 26th, 2024. Bid submissions must include a proposed construction schedule. All work must be completed by April 26th, 2024 in order to avoid conflict with the paving contractor. VTrans is paving Route 7 during the 2024 construction season. Prior to this roadwork being completed, there are water main connections that need to be improved at the following four locations on Route 7: 1. Intersection of Route 7 & Terrill Street 2. Intersection of Route 7 & Madison Street 3. Intersection of Route 7 & Chaplin Avenue 4. Route 7 in front of Aldi's Food Market This water main work is being done in preparation for a much larger-scale water distribution main project that will be issued for bid at a later date. This work needs to be completed now in order to not disturb the newly paved roadway during the large scale project. The attached plan set, design sketch, & these bid specifications outline the scope of work at the four locations. The plan set details three of the four locations. A design sketch details the fourth. All questions related to this Invitation to Bid shall be directed to Ted Gillen, Assistant City Engineer, at 774-7819 or by email at tedg@rutlandcity.org. Bids should be submitted to Sara Magro, Purchasing Agent via mail or email. Prior to beginning any work, the Contractor shall provide the municipality with one or more Certificate(s) of Insurance showing evidence of all coverages required below and naming the municipality as an Additional Insured. All Certificates shall contain a provision stating that the coverages afforded under said policies will not be cancelled, materially changed, or not renewed without thirty (30) days written prior notice to the municipality, except ten (10) days for non-payment of premium If any of the above requirements are not met, the bid will not be considered. If mailed or hand delivered: 1. Submit two (2) completed copies of the Bid Sheet in a sealed envelope as described in the attached scope of work. Clearly indicate the following information on the outside of the sealed envelope or package containing the Bid: Name and address of the prime contractor Due date and time Envelope contents (e.g., Bid Documents) Project name: 2024 Water Distribution Main Connections
