HVAC Upgrade project, approved as part of the 2023 Referendum. Upgrades will be done in each of the 5 schools: Jonathan Dayton High School (189,900 sq. ft.), Florence M. Guadineer Middle School (95,900 sq. ft.), James Caldwell Elementary School (31,500 sq. ft.), Thelma L. Sandmeier Elementary School (44,725 sq. ft.) and Edward V. Walton Early Childhood Center (68,975 sq. ft.). Upgrades include replacing existing classroom unit ventilators (heating only) with new unit ventilators and condensing units (heating and cooling) and installing new package rooftop units with heating and cooling and ductwork distribution for the larger spaces (gymnasiums, auditoriums, multi-purpose rooms, and the elementary school media centers). Classroom heating is provided via steam or hot water coils connected to the existing distribution system. Cooling will be direct expansion cooling, with each unit ventilator connected to a standalone condenser. The project will include mechanical and electrical demolition of the existing systems. The installation of the new systems will include the supply and installation of the equipment, electrical power distribution, ductwork (where applicable), structural supports and some fit and finish modifications required for the installation.
