**As of April 11, 2024, the project was awarded to Castor Construction , with an awarded amount of $1,279,770.69.** The Kenyon Road and Avenue C Intersection Improvements is located on Kenyon Road and the Avenue C intersection in FortDodge, Iowa. The project includes the approximate project quantities and items: clearing and grubbing, 1859 CY of Class 10 Excavation with Waste, 3000 SY subgrade preparation, 2314 SY 6' thick modified subbase, 6820SY of 6' thick Special Backfill, compaction testing,113 LF 14' DIP storm sewer, 22 LF 15' RCP storm sewer, 934 LF of 6' subdrain with cleanouts and connections, 139 LF of 12' Dia C900 Water Main, 942 LBS Ductile Iron Fittings, Water Main removal and abandonment, Gate Valves, 1 each 12' Insertion Valve, removal and relocation of 1 each fire hydrant assembly, 1 Each SW-507 Intake, 2 each SW-507 intakes with modified SW-545 Extension, 2 each SW-541 Intakes with Modified SW-542 Extension, 805 SY 7-Inch PCC Pavement, 879LF of Curb and Gutter, 2.5' width, 10-Inch Thickness, 241 SY of Concrete Median (Doweled), 438 SY Concrete Median Pavement, 1090 SY 10' thick PCC Pavement Widening, Pavement and sidewalk removals, 600 SY of Shared Use Path, 84 SY Sidewalk, 1522 SY Pavement Removal, Traffic Signal (with City Furnished Equipment), Temporary Traffic Signal, Signal Removal, temporary traffic control, signs, pavement markings, SWPPP preparation, Trees and plantings, irrigation system, 70 CY combined sidewalk retaining wall with colored wall together with other related items. Completion of Work Work Area 1: Stage 1 work area being the Kenyon Road Widening and Area shall be restored to traffic with signal operational, and utility and sidewalk improvements complete within 65 working days. Should the contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of One Thousand Six Hundred dollars ($1,600.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract term. The Engineer may suspend working days when work area is inactive and signal equipment procurement is on the critical path. Work Area 2: Stage 2 Work Area (Median Improvements) Contractor shall fully complete the project in 20 working days. Should the contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of One Thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract term. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction, for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder's security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by CITY OF FORTDODGE and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless CITY OF FORTDODGE from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two years from and after acceptance of the contract Work on the improvement shall be commenced any time after the after a written Notice to Proceed is issued, as early as June 24, 2024, and no later than August 5, 2024, and shall be completed as stated below. Work on Stage 2 (Median Improvements) shall not commence until after the Iowa DOT IA 926 SB Bridge Replacement Project is complete and traffic is restored to the southbound Kenyon Road traffic lanes. Work for Stage 2 shall commence as early as April 14, 2025 and no later than May 12, 2025. Work Area 1: Stage 1 work area being the Kenyon Road Widening and Area shall be restored to traffic with signal operational, and utility and sidewalk improvements complete within 65 working days. Should the contractor fail to complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of One Thousand Six Hundred dollars ($1,600.00) per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated contract term. The FortDodge does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the jurisdiction.
