The City of Newton, Iowa is seeking competitive quotations for mowing services on several City parks, ROW, and vacant property locations. Contractors qualified to perform the work and provide the required proof of insurance are invited to submit competitive quotations. Description of the Public Improvement Work to be Performed. The work for which the City is seeking competitive quotations is generally described as follows: 2024 City of Newton Mowing Contract No. 1 - This project includes the weekly mowing and trimming of 6 locations during the 2024 growing season.
Contract Locations and Requirements. Mowing locations and requirements are included in this Request for Quotations packet. Competitive quotations shall be filed with the Community Development Director by either:
Placing them in the United States Mail, appropriately stamped and addressed to the City of Newton Community Services Director - 303 W 4th St N, Suite 501 - Newton, IA 50208;
Filing them in person / in hand at the office of the Community Development Director at the address listed above;
Competitive quotations received after the time stated above will not be considered and the quoting contractor will be so notified. Competitive Quotations to be Submitted on Form Provided. Competitive quotations
shall be filed on the Competitive Quotation form provided by the City and included with this RFQ.
Competitive quotations which are filed in any other form shall be determined to be non-responsive
and shall be rejected by the City.
6. Costs to be Included in Competitive Quotations Submitted by Contractors.
Interested contractors are required to include in their competitive quotations the price for all labor,
materials, equipment, and supplies required to perform the work.
7. Evidence of Insurance Required. Each contractor submitting a quotation pursuant to this
RFQ shall be required to commit to provide to the City, at the time of the award and execution of
the contract, a certificate or certificates of insurance, evidencing insurance with coverages and in
amounts as required by the City.

8. Required Commitments by Contractors. Contractors submitting quotations pursuant to
this RFQ shall be required to commit to the execution of a contract for the work in the form required
by the City.
9. Evaluation of Competitive Quotations. If a quoting contractor does not submit its
quotation on the form required by the governmental entity, or does not provide all information or
documentation or make all commitments required by the governmental entity, or does not cause
said form to be executed as required by the governmental entity, said quotation shall be
determined to be non-responsive and shall be rejected by the governmental entity.
10. Execution of Contract Upon Acceptance and Evidence of Insurance. Upon the City's
determination which contractor has submitted the lowest responsive, responsible quotation, the
City will take action to award the contract to that contractor, conditioned upon the contractor's
submission, and the City's approval, of the contractor's evidence of insurance, and further
conditioned upon the contractor's execution of a contract in the form provided by the City and its
approval and execution by the City.
