The objective of this genset replacement will require to replace the existing G3 DDS-60 with a new QEC supplied diesel genset, Caterpillar 3512 C with a capacity of 720 eKW, 1200 rpm (See Owner Supplied Materials). This project will increase the installed firm capacity to 1820 kW that will satisfy the community's current and longterm needs. Based on the estimation of Genset Supply Contractor, the Genset estimated delivery will be scheduled arrival of September /October 2025 in Sanikiluaq. Delivery based on equipment being ready to ship for the second sailing to Baker Lake, as well weather/ice conditions in 2025. The existing Genset #3's cooling, fuel, heat recovery, compressed air start systems and associated equipment, piping and valves, as well as electrical main protection relay, power cables, control cable/wires, the control circuits and other devices need to be replaced and upgraded to accommodate the new genset. A new heat recovery of engine jacket water will need to be incorporated into the plant heating system. In addition, various supports and structures also require modification and/or re-fabrication to accommodate the new genset, piping and its auxiliary equipment. The overview of work requirements in this project consists of the following work a new Owner supplied genset with a capacity of 720 kW at 600 V in the QEC Sanikiluaq power plant: 1. design of installation of new Genset #3 CAT 3512C 2. construction material supply, 3. demolition of the existing Genset #3, 4. field installation, testing and commissioning of new Genset #3 5. start up and operator training.
