The Project Scope consisting of, but is not limited to, Renovations will include new infield clay, bases, and pitching rubber. The layout and construction will need to ensure the infield layout complies with all NCAA dimensions requirements. The project consists in renovating the existing softball infield located at Westfield State University, The Woodward Center, 577 Western Avenue, Westfield, MA 01085. Massachusetts. Improvements to include the following: SCOPE OF WORK: Base Bid (Softball Infield) General: a. All waste debris will be loaded into trucks and transported to an onsite location provided by Westfield State University. Construction debris shall not be disposed of at this location. The contractor shall include roll away dumpster for misc. debris. b. Contractor shall hold a (1) year warranty for labor and materials to be free from defects. Softball Infield: c. Layout the infield utilizing the existing home plate location as a reference point. a. Layout infield to NCAA League Regulations. This process includes installing new pitchers mound, home plate, bases and all anchors to new elevation and location. d. 43' pitching rubber distance. e. 60' radius from pitching rubber to infield arc. f. 3' base path outside of foul lines. g. 9' radius circle around home plate. h. Excavate infield mix within the new infield to a depth of 4". a. Laser grade the subgrade to match finish grades. i. A softball field is predominately flat with a 1% grade, falling from the center of the mound. Due to the large area of clay, the infields require extensive dragging and shaping to reduce low spots. ii. The pitcher's mound is flat and requires similar maintenance as a baseball mound such as watering the clays and packing the mound after use. b. Till existing Beam Clay Infield Mix to approximately 4". This process with relieve compaction and provide a consistent uniform material for grading. j. Infield Grooming a. Grass Edging i. Sodding Back Arc, First Base, Third Base. Eliminate lips which will lower back edge of grass, providing for moving water completely off the infield clay surface. ii. Remove 1 1/2 " grass, thatch and organic materials 12'-0" off the back arc, 4'-0" along third, first base foul lines. iii. All machines utilized on the filed shall be low ground pressure to avoid damage to existing field and grass areas. k. Lines (Markings) a. Athletic Field Marker l. Participate in on-site project team meeting with the client to finalize the layout, detailing and staging requirements for construction. Alternate: Add (Survey) m. Topographic Survey a. Layout the infield and reestablish home base. b. Provide existing topographic conditions. c. Provide as-built topographic conditions.
