Renovation of an educational facility in Reno, Nevada. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Description of Work: Change the lock hardware on Classrooms and Labs on the TMCC Dandini, Edison, Meadowood, and Redfield campuses. The locks should be changed from a classroom (typical) lockset to one that can be locked from the inside with a push button. Estimated Cost Range: $150,000 - $250,000 Liquidated Damages: $500/day Special Considerations: Work should be completed during the summer break and clustered by building. Required Insurance if Awarded: Commercial General Liability, Business Automobile Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Installation Floater will be required. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The scope of this project is to replace locks on classrooms and laboratories with hardware that provides the ability to lock the room from inside the room where possible. The desired technology is a push button (ANSI F82) Office Lock on Handles and a thumb turn on Mortise locks. All hardware shall meet Building Code ICC 1010.1.9 & 1010.1.10, NFPA 80 6.1.3.2.1 & 6.4.4, and Americans with Disability Act. Any door hardware that is replaced shall be Schlage ND Series Rhodes Lever Handle in a satin chrome finish. Hardware should be same cylinder type if replaced or LFIC if cylinder needs to be replaced. Cylinders should be reused where possible. All new cylinders will be LFIC to match existing keyway of that building. Mortise rings shall be supplied and installed by the contractor to provide a finished solution where needed. Work will be conducted during regular hours over summer break (May 13-August 15). The spreadsheet of all classroom and laboratory doors is supplied, which the base bid will be based upon. The inventory is provided to the best of the ability by TMCC staff and shall be utilized for bidding purposes. The winning bidder will be responsible for verifying all equipment prior to ordering and changing out locks. The mandatory bid walk will be very important to identify which doors will not have solutions to providing an interior locking mechanism. Additive Alternate 1: Quoted as a lump sum, rekey all doors on Inventory and Price Sheet, even those that have not been changed to an Medeco X4 cylinder. The typical cylinder will have 3-5 pinnings for the lock. This alternate will include the key blank, cutting, and stamping of 2000 keys of the Medeco End User X4 (V. XX13.D3XX 38 Bow) per direction of TMCC. For the bid response, the bidder shall provide by building the type and quantity of locks to be changed to help verify the scope of the project is consistent and covered by the bid.
