Reference Number 0000345438 The City of Boulder is requesting proposals from qualified Firms to develop an interpretive framework for the site that balances the site design, interpretive goals, and community inputs gathered in previous efforts. Once the interpretive framework is established, the Firm will be tasked to design, engineer, fabricate, and install interpretive elements at OSMP's Wood Brothers property. The design/engineering phase may also support OSMP's permitting efforts. It is anticipated that the design and engineering phase will begin immediately upon initiation of the contract and continue through mid-2024 with the final construction phase complete by late 2024 (see timeline within RFP). The selected Firm will be responsible for all aspects of design, collaboration with OSMP staff, adhering to environmental protections, quality fabrication, installation, and accurate records management. Plans and design documents developed will be used in support of official permitting and project review processes. The Gunbarrel Hill ISP (Integrated Site Plan) identified a number of implementation projects within the project area. The Wood Brothers property was one implementation project selected to explore design options to improve naturebased learning. As staff began to implement this project and explore the scope, three primary OSMP Master Plan strategies were identified to guide the work. These include: 1) connecting youth to the outdoors, 2) inspiring environmental literacy and new involvement in OSMP, and 3) developing a learning laboratory approach to recreation. Ultimately, OSMP intends to support the development of young eco-stewards in the adjacent Heatherwood and Gunbarrel communities. OSMP will provide youth-generated ideas for the nature discovery space in accordance with existing regulations and site needs. The selected Firm will utilize the completed EOF themes for this site and explore on-the-ground opportunities for improved outdoor learning experiences. It's important to note that the physical location of the Wood Brothers property, directly across the street from the Heatherwood Elementary School playground, creates a rich learning landscape opportunity that may otherwise be difficult to achieve in other locations throughout OSMP.
