Renovation of an educational facility in Illiopolis, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Sangamon Valley CUSD #9 is soliciting bids for brick facade repair at the Middle School located at 341 Matilda St, Illiopolis, IL 62539. Specific information regarding the project may be requested by contacting Robert Meadows, Superintendent by phone at (217) 668-2338 or by email at rmeadows@sangamonvalley.org. no later than 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024. The owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all offers or waive any informality in the bidding. Please use the following information to prepare a bid to address repairs needed to the masonry facade on all elevations, including the gymnasium on the south side of the 1927 structure. No work will be done on the 1957 and 1958 additions. The bid must include a $20,000 contingency on any steel repairs or replacement of the lintel or shelf angle on all window openings on the south side of the structure. If steel replacement is deemed necessary, the contractor will bring this to the owner attention immediately and provide any additional cost estimates. SCOPE OF WORK: Furnish and install all necessary labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and insurance, to complete work on the project. Work must begin on June 3, 2024 in specified locations and must be completed no later than August 9, 2024. Work will be completed from scaffolding or may be completed out of an aerial lift provided by the contractor. Roof and Window protection will be installed prior to work beginning. Once accessed, the brick soldier courses that are directly above window lintels must be removed to expose the steel lintel or shelf angle. Temporary shoring of masonry above will be done as needed. An inspection by the owner must be completed prior to the beginning of any repair work. On the south side of the 1927 structure, all lintels within the work area should be cleaned, painted, and flashed including the 2 partially closed block windows. A $20,000 contingency must be included for steel replacement. Cut out and reseal all window perimeters. On the southwest corner of the 1969 structure, spot tuck point, remove old sealant and reseal the expansion joints, and apply water sealant as described below. Exposed steel will be replaced as needed, and/or cleaned with wire wheel, primed, and repainted. New flexible flashing will be installed with termination bar, weeps, end dams, and stainless steel drip edge flashing Spot tuck point roughly 30% of all walls of the south side of the 1927 structure including the gymnasium Any cracked or spalled bricks will be replaced with new bricks in a full bed of mortar. New bricks and mortar will be installed that match the existing brick color and size as close as possible Vertical inside corners will be ground and caulked with a high-quality silicone sealant The window perimeter sealant will be removed, edges ground to remove residual sealant and debris, new closed-cell backer rod installed, and perimeters caulked with a high-quality silicone sealant Upon completion of the masonry and sealant repairs, the entire south side of the 1927 structure will be washed with high-pressure water to remove surface contaminants, and allowed to dry. Once sufficiently dried, one (1) application of a clear, penetrating sealer (water repellent) will be applied to the entire area per the manufacturer recommendations. All bids must include the following unit prices: Brick Replacement - $/Brick Tuck pointing - $/Square Feet Lintel cleaning/flashing - $/Linear Feet Brick Rebuilding (single wythe) - $/Square Feet
