Site work and new construction of a parking garage in Topeka, Kansas. Completed plans call for the construction of a parking garage; and for site work for a parking garage.
The City of Topeka Public Works Department is requesting proposals from design-build teams to provide site selection, design, pre-construction, construction, and construction administration services for the construction of a newly constructed or remodeled light-duty fleet maintenance facility. The city is seeking a qualified team that can lead site selection, planning, design, and construction efforts to address the identified need for a remodeled or newly constructed light duty fleet maintenance garage in a logical manner that is centered on the required timeline. The city will work with the design-build team to develop task orders to address the construction phases with mutually agreed upon scope, pricing, and schedule. Current facility is 16,500 square feet including 16 vehicle maintenance bays, storage, office space and attached car wash. Desired facility would produce the same level of service or greater than the current fleet facility located at 320 S Kansas Avenue. The city currently services approximately 550 various light duty vehicles and pieces of equipment each year. The newly constructed or remodeled light duty fleet garage will be capable of servicing light duty vehicles and equipment from all city operations on scheduled and non-scheduled basis. Currently the light duty fleet maintenance garage has bays to service 16 vehicles and additional pieces of equipment at one time. In addition to the maintenance bays, interior spaces will include offices and breakrooms, storage areas, a welding shop, and an automotive body shop. The selected team will complete the project on a fasttrack construction schedule over the period of 18-24 months.
